Stun Cannons
General Points
The stun cannons in Easy Top are used when you get slightly out of position. They are easy to make but it is important to hardly move the white and leave a good potting angle on the red. It is easy to move the white too far, losing position for Easy Top. These cannons are really only controllable when the cue ball is close to the other two balls.
Standard cannon
Set the balls up as shown to practice the cannon. Concentrate hitting the red thick to take the momentum out of the cue ball, so that you do not hit the white too hard.
Moving the cue ball around
Try moving the cue ball to different positions and see if you can make the cannon, again just moving the white a very small distance, leaving a good potting angle. When you are slightly out of position for the ideal stun cannon, try experimenting with touches of side to leave a good angle on the red.
Practice Targets
| Beginner | 1/10 | Success rate for these cannons is all about hardly moving the white. This is a shot that is almost impossible to miss but very difficult to get right |
| Club Player | 5/10 | An average player will get out of position for quite a few of these shots. |
| Professional | 9/10 | Top players will almost always get in the correct position for the pot red after the cannon, although at greater distances the shot will sometimes go wrong. |
Remember
- Hit the red thick as thick as possible to take the sting out of the cue ball
- Use side if required, to leave a pot on the red
Common Mistakes
- Hitting the white too hard, usually because of hitting the red to thin
- Leaving a potting angle that takes the cue ball away from the top cushion
