White to red long Cannon

General Points

This long Cannon is played when the Short Jenny is not on and the Long Jenny is difficult because the white is too far from the side cushion. The key to the shot is to contact the white as thick as possible and with check side, to bring the white with you to the top end of the table. The gathering shot is not on so the aim is to bring the white to the opposite corner pocket area.

Standard shot

Set the red on the spot and the white in a position so that the Short Jenny is not on and the Long Jenny is difficult because the white is too far from the cushion. Play the shot with bundles of check side and as thick a half ball as possible. You should aim to bring the white to the corner pocket area. Practice the shot from both sides of the table.

Success rate for a 'standard' long Cannon will be low at first. It is quite a difficult shot to make the cannon and bring the white to a good scoring area.

Club Player 5/10

An average player will get most of the cannons but often leave the white behind.

Professional 9/10

Top players have a high success rate at this shot.
